Description
One year of 1-minute resolution solar irradiance data measured in Getafe, Madrid, Spain. The dataset includes Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI), Diffuse Horizontal Irradiance (DHI), and Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) values. It was collected by Mercedes Ibarra with equipment funded by grant RYC2021-033499-I and installed at the UPM premises in Getafe.
Use Cases
Modeling solar power plant output based on high-resolution irradiance data.
Validating satellite-derived solar irradiance estimates using ground-based measurements.
Analyzing temporal variability of solar resources for energy forecasting.
Benchmarking the performance of different solar panel technologies under local conditions.
Strengths
High temporal resolution of 1-minute intervals for detailed analysis.
Includes three standard irradiance components (DNI, DHI, GHI) essential for solar energy studies.
Data covers a full year, capturing seasonal variations.
Specific geographic location (Getafe, Madrid, Spain) is documented.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
