Description
97 stations were sampled during a 1995 fisheries survey aboard the Corystes, catching 66 different species. The Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) conducted this survey to create indices of abundance for EU data regulations and ICES research. Data includes catch, length, and biological information for selected species, alongside benthic, litter, water temperature, salinity, and acoustic measurements.
Use Cases
Modeling fish population indices based on catch and length data mentioned in the description
Analyzing species diversity and composition across 97 sampled stations
Correlating biological data with concurrent environmental measurements like water temperature and salinity
Supporting stock assessment and fisheries management as part of EU and ICES regulatory frameworks
Strengths
Survey operations were undertaken on 97 stations, providing spatial coverage
66 different species were recorded, indicating biodiversity capture
Includes multiple data types: station, catch, length, biological, benthic, litter, and environmental data
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
