Description
147 stations were surveyed between 26 February and 20 March 1997 on the RV Corystes. The survey, conducted by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas), caught 74 different species using 4m beam trawls and collected biological, benthic, and environmental data. Data was used to create indices of abundance for EU regulations and ICES research.
Use Cases
Modeling groundfish population indices based on catch and length data mentioned in the description
Analyzing species biodiversity and distribution from the 74 species recorded
Studying benthic community composition based on collected benthic data
Correlating fish abundance with environmental factors like water temperature and salinity
Strengths
Survey operations were undertaken on 147 stations, providing spatial coverage
74 different species were recorded, indicating biodiversity capture
Includes multiple data types: catch, length, biological, benthic, and environmental measurements
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified
