Description
North Sea survey data collected by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) from August 10 to September 6, 2000. The dataset includes station, catch, length, and biological data for 152 species from 349 trawl stations, alongside benthic catches and water temperature and salinity measurements. It was undertaken as part of the International Bottom Trawl Survey in support of EU data regulations.
Use Cases
Modeling fish species distribution and abundance based on trawl station and catch data.
Analyzing stock composition estimates for commercial fish species using length and biological data.
Studying benthic community structure based on recorded benthic catches.
Correlating fish presence with environmental conditions using collected water temperature and salinity data.
Strengths
Covers 349 survey stations, providing a substantial spatial sample.
Records data for 152 different species, offering broad taxonomic coverage.
Includes multiple data types: station, catch, length, biological, and environmental measurements.
Collected using standardized research vessels and GOV trawls, suggesting methodological consistency.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
