Description
A fisheries survey conducted by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) from 26 August to 23 September 2001. The survey, part of the International Young Fish Survey, operated at 68 stations around the British Isles, primarily the South and East coasts, and recorded 64 different species. It collected station, catch, length, and biological data for Sole and Plaice to evaluate recruitment and small fish abundance.
Use Cases
Modeling recruitment trends for Sole and Plaice based on the biological data collected.
Analyzing species diversity and community structure based on the 64 species recorded.
Studying spatial distribution of young fish based on the 68 station locations.
Comparing catch composition and abundance over time as part of the long-term survey series (1981-2010).
Strengths
Survey operations were conducted at 68 stations, providing spatial coverage.
Data includes 64 different species, offering a view of community composition.
Part of a long-term monitoring series running from 1981 to 2010, enabling temporal analysis.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale modeling.
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the survey's focus on the South and East coasts of the British Isles.
