Description
The Irish Sea and Bristol Channel survey collected station, catch, length, and biological data for 85 species from 111 stations between September 6 and October 6, 2002. The Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) conducted the survey using a 4m beam trawl as part of the North West Groundfish Survey. Data was used to create abundance indices for EU regulations and an ICES research program, with additional aims to collect benthic, litter, temperature, salinity, and acoustic data.
Use Cases
Calculate fish abundance indices based on catch and length data mentioned in the description.
Analyze species composition and biodiversity based on the 85 different species recorded.
Model relationships between environmental factors and fish populations based on collected water temperature and salinity data.
Study benthic community impacts based on the benthic data collection aim.
Strengths
Survey operations were undertaken on 111 stations, providing spatial coverage.
Data covers 85 different species caught, indicating multi-species recording.
Survey has a defined temporal range from 06/09/2002 to 06/10/2002.
