Description
176 different species were caught during this 2007 North Sea groundfish survey. The survey was undertaken by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) aboard the CEFAS Endeavour between 08/08/2007 and 08/09/2007. It collected station, catch, length, biological, benthic, water temperature, salinity, and litter data at 156 stations to support EU data regulations and the International Bottom Trawl Survey.
Use Cases
Modeling fish stock composition based on catch and length data mentioned in the description.
Analyzing species distribution patterns across the 156 survey stations.
Studying correlations between environmental factors like water temperature and salinity and species presence.
Assessing benthic community composition based on recorded benthic catches.
Strengths
Data collection followed standardized protocols using research vessels and GOV trawls.
Survey covers 156 stations and recorded 176 different species, suggesting broad spatial and taxonomic coverage.
Includes multiple data types: biological, environmental (temperature, salinity), and litter data.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
