Description
A survey conducted between 05/08/2009 and 06/09/2009 by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) aboard the CEFAS Endeavour. It includes data from 170 stations where 182 different species were caught, covering station, catch, length, and biological data for selected species, as well as benthic catches, water temperature, salinity, and litter data. The survey supports EU data regulations and is part of the International Bottom Trawl Survey.
Use Cases
Modeling fish stock composition and distribution based on catch and length data from 75 core trawl stations.
Analyzing benthic ecosystem health based on recorded benthic catch data.
Studying oceanographic conditions based on collected water temperature and salinity data.
Assessing marine litter pollution levels based on the litter data mentioned in the description.
Strengths
Data collected from 170 stations, providing broad spatial coverage for the survey area.
Records for 182 different species caught, indicating high taxonomic diversity.
Includes multiple data types: station, catch, length, biological, benthic, and environmental (temperature, salinity, litter).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for specific modeling tasks.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified as the data is from a single 2009 survey.
