Description
A 2010 fisheries survey conducted by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) aboard the CEFAS Endeavour. The survey completed 183 stations, recording catch, length, and biological data for 176 species, alongside water temperature, salinity, and litter data. It was undertaken as part of the International Bottom Trawl Survey to support EU data regulations.
Use Cases
Modeling fish stock composition and distribution based on trawl station catch data.
Analyzing species biodiversity and community structure from the 176 recorded species.
Studying correlations between environmental factors (water temperature, salinity) and fish populations.
Monitoring marine litter as part of environmental data collection efforts.
Strengths
Survey operations were undertaken on 183 stations, providing broad spatial coverage.
Data includes records for 176 different species caught, indicating high biodiversity capture.
Collection of auxiliary environmental data (water temperature, salinity, litter) alongside biological samples.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale ML tasks.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
