Description
A 2010 fisheries survey conducted by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) as part of the International Young Fish Survey. The survey took place from 26 August to 09 September 2010 in the Thames estuary, operating on 80 stations and catching 62 different species. It collected station, catch, length, and biological data to evaluate the recruitment of Sole and Plaice and the abundance of small fish.
Use Cases
Modeling recruitment trends for Sole and Plaice based on the biological data collected.
Analyzing species diversity and community structure based on the catch of 62 different species.
Studying spatial distribution of young fish based on data from 80 survey stations.
Comparing fishing gear efficiency based on the use of a 2m beam trawl with a shrimp net fryma liner.
Strengths
Survey operations were conducted on 80 distinct stations, providing spatial coverage.
Data includes biological information for key commercial species Sole and Plaice.
The survey caught 62 different species, indicating broad taxonomic coverage.
