Description
June-July 2011 Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth (CTD) data gathered by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) in the North Sea. The data was collected from the RV Endeavour for the specific purpose of multibeam sonar correction. The dataset is aggregated from the eu_open_data platform.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam sonar systems based on water column conductivity and temperature profiles.
Analyzing seasonal water column structure in the North Sea based on CTD measurements.
Validating hydrodynamic models using in-situ temperature and depth data from a known time period.
Strengths
Data collected for a specific, applied purpose (multibeam sonar correction) by a government science agency (Cefas).
Clear temporal coverage from 23 June to 4 July 2011.
Defined geographic scope focused on the North Sea.
Limitations
Row count, file formats, and column-level documentation are unknown, requiring manual inspection after download.
Last update date and license information are unknown; freshness and reuse terms are unverified.
