Description
Two marine surveys conducted in March and May 2012 at the Fulmar Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas). The data includes multibeam bathymetry and backscatter coverage, along with 25 video transects, 326 analyzed still images, and 66 particle size analysis and infauna samples.
Use Cases
Map seafloor topography based on multibeam bathymetry coverage.
Analyze sediment composition based on particle size analysis (PSA) samples.
Assess benthic biodiversity based on video transects and infauna samples.
Characterize seafloor substrate based on backscatter data.
Strengths
Includes multiple data types: bathymetry, backscatter, video, stills, and physical samples.
Provides 66 paired PSA and infauna samples for correlative analysis.
Surveys conducted by a government science agency (Cefas).
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Row count and column-level documentation are absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
