Description
A Fisheries Science Partnership survey series focusing on sole and plaice in the Western Channel. The survey recorded station, positional, depth, time, and length distribution data for all fish and shellfish species, with otoliths collected for age determination. It was conducted by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) under an Open Government Licence.
Use Cases
Modeling population trends based on recorded distribution and abundance data.
Analyzing age-length relationships for sole and plaice based on collected otoliths.
Studying bycatch species composition and diversity mentioned in the survey aims.
Mapping fish distribution patterns based on recorded positional and depth information.
Strengths
Survey aims are clearly defined to show trends in distribution, abundance, and age composition.
Multiple data types were recorded per station, including positional, depth, time, and biological measurements.
