Description
One Fisheries Science Partnership survey series aims to show trends in the distribution, abundance, and age composition of sole and plaice in the Western Channel. The survey recorded positional, depth, and time data at each station and collected length distribution data for all fish and shellfish species. Otoliths from sole and plaice provide individual age-at-length information.
Use Cases
Modeling population trends for sole and plaice based on recorded distribution and abundance data.
Analyzing age-length relationships for flatfish based on otolith collection.
Assessing bycatch species composition based on length distribution data taken for all species.
Studying spatial-temporal patterns of fish stocks based on recorded station, positional, and time information.
Strengths
Data includes individual age-at-length information derived from otolith samples.
Survey design captures multiple data points per station, including shot/haul details, position, depth, and time.
Scope extends beyond target species to include length distribution data for all bycatch fish and shellfish.
Limitations
