Description
The 2022-2024 FISP project 'Ecosystem Benefits of UK Oyster Aquaculture Sites' collected data to measure biodiversity and denitrification activity at oyster farms and natural reefs in England and Wales. Project partners Tethys Oysters Ltd., Atlantic Edge Oysters Ltd., Envision Marine Ltd., and the University of Essex conducted surveys in 2022 and 2023 involving underwater imagery, sediment sampling, oyster dredging, and ecosystem function sampling. The research aimed to quantify ecosystem services provided by aquaculture for communication to consumers, industry, and decision-makers.
