The 2022 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) provides updated cost and performance data for electricity generation and storage technologies. Starting in 2015, NREL has presented the ATB, which includes current and projected data, documentation, and user engagement via a website, presentation, and webinar. The 2022 data are cloud optimized and provided in the OEDI data lake.
Use Cases
- Modeling future electricity generation costs based on projected performance data
- Comparing current and projected cost metrics for different generation technologies
- Analyzing technology adoption pathways for storage and generation systems
- Benchmarking technology performance against a standardized baseline
Strengths
- Data spans multiple years, with a continuous series starting from 2015
- Includes both current and projected cost and performance metrics
- Provided in multiple formats including Excel, Tableau, and structured CSV files
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Provenance
- Source
- National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
- Collection Method
- Research and analysis by NREL, presented via the ATB website and data products.
- Time Range
- Current and projected data for 2022, with historical data from 2015-2020 available separately.
