A computational model of the attentional blink phenomenon based on the LIDA cognitive architecture. The model provides a biologically plausible explanation for the impairment in perceiving a second visual target presented 200-500ms after the first. It was developed by Tamas Madl at the University of Vienna and compares computational results to human data.
Use Cases
- Testing computational models of visual attention based on the LIDA cognitive architecture.
- Simulating the attentional blink effect in a rapid serial visual presentation paradigm.
- Comparing model predictions to human behavioral data on temporal visual processing.
Strengths
- Model is based on the established LIDA cognitive architecture.
- Explains a wide range of attentional blink-related phenomena.
- Computational results are compared to human data.
Limitations
- Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count and file formats are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
