57 university undergraduate students participated in an experiment examining the effects of physical appearance on attraction to the opposite sex. Participants viewed pictures of attractive or unattractive stimulus persons and answered questionnaires about their attraction and willingness to engage in activities. The study, authored by Sherynn J. Perry of Arizona State University, found significant results linking physical appearance to mate selection.
