Habitat Potential of Australian Submarine Canyons Evaluated via Surrogacy Framework

A surrogacy framework evaluates potential habitat condition for marine megafauna and infauna across 753 submarine canyons on the Australian continental margin. The methodology uses 22 environmental and ecological variables to score canyons based on geomorphic and oceanographic heterogeneity. This work was presented at the 2017 Australian Marine Science Association Conference and is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network.
