Description
2022 survey data from several thousand households in the Australian Capital Territory and Queanbeyan, replicating the 'Method of travel' dashboard theme with demographic filters. The spreadsheet, provided by the ACT Government's TCCS Data Capability, shows the number and proportion of trips categorized by time of day and demographic attributes. It is a sample survey, not a census, providing estimates of average weekday travel patterns.
Use Cases
Analyzing commuting mode share differences based on household income quartiles mentioned in the description
Modeling peak-hour travel demand based on trip time periods (AM peak, PM peak, Interpeak, Off-peak) described in the notes
Studying the relationship between license holding status and travel method as indicated by the demographic attributes
Comparing travel behavior across age groups and gender, noting the allocation of non-binary responses described in the notes
Strengths
Data is derived from a large survey of several thousand households as stated in the source description
Includes multiple demographic dimensions: gender, age, license holding status, and household income level
Trip categorization uses defined time periods: AM peak, PM peak, Interpeak, and Off-peak
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
The survey's small sample size for non-binary gender participants required their random allocation to male/female groups, as noted
