Description
A polyline dataset shows locations of Stormwater Open Drains, Floodways, and Spillways in the Australian Capital Territory. Assets are owned or managed by the City Services, City and Environment Directorate (CED), and attributes include location description, suburb, ownership, maintained by, asset sub type, dimensions, invert levels, materials, and shape. The dataset is maintained through the works as executed handover process or field audits and was last updated on 2026-04-04.
Use Cases
Map stormwater infrastructure locations based on polyline geometry
Analyze asset ownership and maintenance responsibility based on ownership and 'maintained by' attributes
Model drainage capacity based on asset sub type and dimension attributes
Plan municipal maintenance schedules based on asset location and type
Strengths
Attributes include specific asset sub types such as Concrete Channel, Grass Channel, Grassed Floodway, Metal Channel, Spillway, Stone Channel, and Swale Drain
Dataset is maintained through a documented process (works as executed handover or field audits)

Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to data_gov_au, as assets owned privately or by other government bodies may not be included
