2002-2003 daily global maps of the attenuation coefficient at 490nm, derived from the GLI sensor onboard the ADEOS-II satellite. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) produced this Level 3 Standard Mapped Image product with a spatial resolution of 9 kilometers. Data is projected onto an equidistant rectangular global grid and is also available in 8-day and 1-month statistical composites.
Data is provided in HDF format, which requires specific libraries for reading. The primary physical measurement is the attenuation coefficient at 490nm with units of 1/m.
