Satellite-derived maps of cloud liquid water path, a key microphysical property, are provided at a 1/4-degree spatial resolution with a 16-day statistical period. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) produced this data from the GLI sensor onboard the ADEOS-II (Midori II) satellite, with the last recorded update in October 2003. It is generated using a reflection method applied to specific GLI sensor channels to isolate cloud-reflected solar radiation.
Data is provided in HDF format, which requires specific libraries for access and processing. The primary physical quantity is cloud liquid water path with units of g/m^2.
