Description
A land evaluation map for commercial sugar cane production in the Huila department of Colombia, created under Agreement No. 1425704 of 2020 by UPRA. The dataset categorizes land into five suitability classes: High (A1), Medium (A2), Low (A3), Technically Unsuitable (N1), and Legally Excluded (N2). It includes statistics on total and municipal area for each suitability class.
Use Cases
Classify land suitability for sugar cane using the `aptitud` column and analyze area distribution with `Área (ha)`.
Aggregate suitability statistics by municipality using `Municipio` and `Código municipio` for regional planning.
Join with other departmental datasets using `Código departamento` and `Departamento` for broader agricultural analysis.
Perform spatial analysis of suitability zones using the implied geospatial data from the `Gridcode` and `OBJECTID` columns.
Strengths
Dataset is structured with 8 clearly defined columns including geographic identifiers and area measurements.
Suitability classification follows a detailed, legally and technically defined five-category framework.
Based on multiple official data sources including soil studies, land cover maps, and climate information from IDEAM.
Limitations
Row count and total dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale processing.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality and spatial accuracy require manual inspection after download.
