Description
Aeromagnetic Total Field, Yukon Territory, NTS 106L/NE-NW is a geospatial dataset compiled from an aeromagnetic survey conducted by Fugro Airborne Surveys in 2003. Survey operations used a Cessna Caravan aircraft with a cesium vapour magnetometer, flown at a nominal terrain clearance of 200 m. The levelled total field values were interpolated to a 200 m grid, and the International Geomagnetic Reference Field has not been removed.
Use Cases
Map subsurface geological structures based on magnetic total field data.
Analyze magnetic anomalies for mineral exploration targeting.
Integrate with other geophysical datasets for regional geological studies.
Validate or calibrate airborne survey methodologies.
Study local geomagnetic field variations without the International Geomagnetic Reference Field removed.
Strengths
Survey conducted with a 0.005 nT sensitivity magnetometer, indicating high-precision instrumentation.
Flight path recovered using differential GPS and a video camera, suggesting accurate spatial positioning.
Data levelled and interpolated to a consistent 200 m grid.
Specific survey period from March 7 to May 1, 2003, and nominal line spacings of 800 m and 2.4 km are documented.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The International Geomagnetic Reference Field has not been removed, which may complicate direct comparison with other magnetic datasets.
