Description
AgMIP's Global Gridded Crop Model Intercomparison (GGCMI) phase II data set contains output from EPIC-TAMU simulations for spring wheat. The data includes crop yield, biomass, planting and maturity days, and evapotranspiration from 31-year simulations under varied CO2, temperature, water, and nitrogen conditions. The archive was contributed by Ashwan Reddy of the University of Maryland, College Park.
Use Cases
Modeling crop yield sensitivity based on varied atmospheric CO2 levels (360-810 ppm)
Analyzing growing season length changes based on planting and maturity day variables
Predicting water use efficiency based on actual growing season evapotranspiration data
Assessing biomass production under different nitrogen input levels (10-200 kgN/ha)
Simulating climate adaptation strategies based on the 'none' and 'regain original growing season' assumptions
Strengths
Simulations cover a 31-year time span using the AgMERRA climate data set
Output includes five key agricultural variables: yield, biomass, planting day, maturity day, and evapotranspiration
Experiments are structured across four controlled dimensions: CO2 (4 levels), temperature (6 offsets), water (8 levels), and nitrogen (3 levels)
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
