Description
Annual estimates of soil loss risk from wind, water, and tillage for agricultural areas across Canada's Soil Landscapes. The dataset provides a 40-year time series from 1981 to 2021, produced by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. It is available in multiple geospatial formats including FGDB, GeoJSON, and CSV.
Use Cases
Modeling long-term soil degradation trends based on the 40-year time series.
Assessing regional agricultural sustainability based on combined wind, water, and tillage erosion risk.
Informing land management and conservation policy based on Soil Landscapes of Canada spatial units.
Strengths
Provides a 40-year time series from 1981 to 2021.
Covers combined erosion risk from three primary drivers: wind, water, and tillage.
Available in multiple geospatial formats (FGDB, GeoJSON, CSV, ESRI REST).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to its focus on Canadian agricultural areas.
