Description
78 farms in Tanzania participated in on-farm trials measuring maize, wheat, faba bean, and soybean yield responses to four lime application rates over two years. This dataset was generated by the Guiding Acid Soil Management Investments in Africa (GAIA) project and is hosted by CIMMYT Harvested Dataverse. The data was last updated on April 20, 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling crop yield response curves based on lime application rates.
Analyzing the multi-year effects of lime application on different crops.
Linking plot-level yield data with predicted soil properties using the provided soil sample identifier.
Harmonizing agronomic data using the provided terminology lookup table.
Strengths
Data from 78 farm-level replications provides a robust sample for analysis.
Includes yield measurements for four major crops over two consecutive years.
Designed with a randomized complete block design, a standard for agricultural experiments.
Provides links to external soil datasets and a terminology lookup table for interoperability.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to the specific trial locations and years.
