Description
The Adelaide Reference Surfaces bathymetry survey was acquired for the Australian Hydrographic Office between 4 September 2020 and 16 September 2020. This surface was created from a contracted national reference survey in Gulf St Vincent, South Australia, collected for calibrating multibeam echosounders. The dataset includes separate 1-meter resolution grids for two surveyed sites, exported as 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF files.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam echosounders based on the high-resolution reference bathymetry surface.
Analyzing seafloor topography in Gulf St Vincent based on the 1-meter resolution survey data.
Comparing vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) based on the separate grids provided for each site.
Strengths
Survey conducted using Kongsberg EM 2040 multibeam and EA440 singlebeam echosounders, suggesting professional-grade data collection.
Data processed using Caris HIPS & SIPS software, indicating a standardized hydrographic workflow.
Provides grids in three vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for two sites, offering flexibility for different reference frames.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is explicitly not to be used for navigational purposes, restricting its application scope.
