Description
A 2021 bathymetry survey acquired on 17 Dec 2021 for the Australian Hydrographic Office. The surface was created from a contracted national reference survey within Banks Strait to Cape Barren, Tasmania, for calibrating multibeam echosounders. It was processed using QPS Qimera and exported as a 0.5m resolution, 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF grid.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam echosounder systems based on the reference survey purpose.
Analyzing high-resolution seafloor topography based on the 0.5m grid resolution.
Comparing vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for marine charting based on the provided grid types.
Strengths
High-resolution 0.5m grid for detailed bathymetric analysis.
Survey conducted with specific Kongsberg EM 2040 MkII and EM 2040P equipment.
Data provided in three vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for flexibility.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
