Description
A 0.5-meter resolution bathymetry grid was created from a contracted national reference survey in Banks Strait, Tasmania. The Australian Hydrographic Office acquired the data on 17 December 2021 using Kongsberg EM 2040 multibeam echosounders, processed with QPS Qimera. This surface is provided in MSL, LAT, and Ellipsoid vertical datums as a 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF for calibrating hydrographic equipment.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam echosounder systems based on the described reference survey purpose
Analyzing high-resolution seafloor topography based on the 0.5m grid resolution
Comparing vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for hydrographic applications based on the provided data formats
Strengths
High 0.5-meter spatial resolution for detailed bathymetric analysis
Data acquired using specific Kongsberg EM 2040 MkII and EM 2040P multibeam systems
Processed with industry-standard QPS Qimera software
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
