Description
Bathymetry data for a coastal area near Broome, Western Australia, collected over two days in September 2020. The survey was acquired for the Australian Hydrographic Office under the Hydroscheme Industry Partnership Program using a Kongsberg EM 2040D multibeam echosounder. The processed dataset is provided as a 0.5-meter resolution GeoTIFF grid referenced to MSL, LAT, and Ellipsoid vertical datums.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam echosounder systems based on the high-resolution reference surface.
Analyzing seafloor morphology in a coastal zone based on the 0.5-meter resolution bathymetric grid.
Comparing vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for hydrographic applications based on the provided grids.
Strengths
High-resolution 0.5-meter grid derived from a dedicated reference survey.
Data processed using industry-standard Caris HIPS & SIPS software.
Provides grids in three vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for comparison.
Limitations
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The description explicitly states the dataset is not to be used for navigational purposes.
