Description
October 10 to November 8, 2021 bathymetry survey data acquired for the Australian Hydrographic Office in Hobart, Tasmania. The surface was created from a contracted national reference survey for calibrating multibeam echosounders, processed using QPS Qimera. Separate 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF grids are provided in 0.5m and 1m resolutions for two surveyed sites.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam echosounder systems based on the reference survey purpose mentioned in the description
Analyzing high-resolution seafloor topography based on the 0.5m and 1m resolution grids
Comparing vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for hydrographic applications based on the provided datum types
Developing baseline bathymetric models for specific survey sites in Hobart based on the two surveyed sites mentioned
Strengths
High-resolution grids at 0.5m and 1m resolutions
Data collected with a specific Kongsberg EM2040D multibeam echosounder
Processed using industry-standard QPS Qimera software
Provides data in three vertical datums: MSL, LAT, and Ellipsoid
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
