Description
Rottnest Island, Western Australia, is the location for this bathymetric reference surface. The dataset was created from a survey conducted on 11 December 2022 for the Australian Hydrographic Office, using a Kongsberg EM2040P multibeam echosounder. It provides separate 0.5m and 2m resolution grids in three vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for calibrating sonar systems.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam echosounder systems based on high-resolution reference bathymetry.
Analyzing seabed topography near Rottnest Island based on 0.5m and 2m resolution grids.
Comparing vertical elevation models based on the three provided datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid).
Strengths
Survey conducted with a specific instrument (Kongsberg EM2040P) on a known date (11 December 2022).
Provides high-resolution (0.5m) and standard-resolution (2m) grids for two surveyed sites.
Data processed using a professional hydrographic software suite (Caris HIPS & SIPS).
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
