Description
Torres Strait bathymetry survey data acquired for the Australian Hydrographic Office on 12 Dec 2021. Separate 0.5m resolution grids for two surveyed sites are provided in MSL, LAT, and Ellipsoid vertical datums, exported as 32-bit floating point GeoTIFFs. The data was collected using a Kongsberg EM2040D multibeam echosounder and processed with QPS Qimera.
Use Cases
Calibrating multibeam echosounder systems based on the reference survey surfaces.
Analyzing seafloor topography and bathymetry based on high-resolution 0.5m grids.
Comparing vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for hydrographic charting based on the provided separate grids.
Strengths
High-resolution 0.5m grid cells provide detailed bathymetric data.
Data provided in three standard vertical datums (MSL, LAT, Ellipsoid) for flexibility.
Survey conducted with a specific, professional-grade instrument (Kongsberg EM2040D).
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
