Description
The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators program tracks ambient concentrations of sulphur dioxide and other pollutants at national, regional, urban, and local monitoring station levels. Environment and Climate Change Canada provides this data in multiple formats including CSV, interactive maps, and downloadable reports. The indicators are presented with corresponding Canadian Ambient Air Quality Standards where available.
Use Cases
Modeling population exposure to sulphur dioxide based on station-level concentration data.
Assessing regional compliance with Canadian Ambient Air Quality Standards for sulphur dioxide.
Analyzing spatial trends in air pollutants across Canada using the provided geospatial formats.
Tracking temporal changes in air quality indicators for environmental sustainability reporting.
Strengths
Data is provided by the authoritative national program, the Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators.
Multiple data access formats are available, including CSV, interactive maps, and ESRI REST services.
Indicators are calculated with reference to established Canadian Ambient Air Quality Standards.
