Description
49 eyes from 37 patients aged 10 to 50 years were analyzed in a 2017 retrospective study at the Instituto Panamericano da Visão in Goiânia, Brazil. The research evaluated the safety and efficacy of Transepithelial Crosslinking (CXL) for progressive keratoconus, measuring visual acuity, astigmatism, and pachymetry over 12 months. The dataset was authored by Roseane Lucena Marquez and is available via paperswithcode.
Use Cases
Modeling visual acuity improvement over time based on pre- and post-operative measurements mentioned in the description
Analyzing the correlation between patient age and treatment efficacy for keratoconus
Evaluating the statistical significance of changes in astigmatism and pachymetry following CXL treatment
Comparing treatment outcomes between different demographic groups (e.g., sex) within the study cohort
Strengths
Includes longitudinal data with measurements at preoperative, 1-month, 6-month, and 12-month intervals
Study reports specific, statistically significant results (p-values) for key clinical outcomes like UDVA and CDVA
Describes a standardized treatment protocol using the Avedro KXL system with specific energy and riboflavin parameters
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to a single-center study in Brazil
