Vegetation Recovery Classification From Landsat Imagery in Alberta

Alberta's Play-Based Regulation pilot area is monitored using Landsat multispectral imagery from 2009 and 2010. The Alberta Energy Regulator produced this dataset to classify vegetation recovery into six land cover classes following anthropogenic disturbance. It covers a region spanning multiple townships and towns, including Edson and Whitecourt.

Use Cases

• Classify land cover into shrub land, grassland, agricultural areas, coniferous forest, broadleaf forest, or mixed forest using the 6-class vegetation recovery data.
• Analyze vegetation recovery patterns following infrastructure development related to oil, gas, forestry, or agriculture using the classified change data.
