Over 400 moorings and 1100 stations provide long-term measurements of currents and high-resolution vertical profiles from the Southern Ocean. The Alfred-Wegener-Institute collected this data using research vessels like Polarstern, starting in 1983 and continuing to the present. It focuses on the Weddell Sea region from approximately 30 to 85 degrees South.
Data access is not direct and requires prior consultation with the Alfred-Wegener-Institute (AWI). The 700 MB database size includes non-Antarctic data; the relevant subset size is unknown.
