Description
Government of Yukon researchers employed scanning electron microscope, electron microprobe, and laser ablation ICP-MS methods to characterize gold composition. The study reports new data for placer and lode gold, mainly from the Klondike District. This work aims to match placer gold compositions with specific lode sources.
Use Cases
Identify lode source styles based on gold composition differences
Match placer gold samples to potential lode sources using trace element analysis
Characterize mineralogy of lode gold sources based on micro-inclusion suites
Strengths
Data includes major, minor, and trace element composition of gold
Analysis combines SEM, EMP, and laser ablation ICP-MS methods
Focus on the Klondike District provides regional specificity
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to open_canada
