Description
Monthly water quality monitoring data collected from 11 sites in the Huon River and D'Entrecasteaux Channel from September 2004 to October 2005. The dataset likely contains measurements for nutrients, phytoplankton species, chlorophyll, carotenoid pigments, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and CTD profiles. It was produced by CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR) and the Tasmanian Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute (TAFI).
Use Cases
Analyze nutrient concentrations and phytoplankton dynamics based on monthly sampling.
Model dissolved oxygen levels in aquaculture zones based on bimonthly measurements.
Assess turbidity and water clarity trends based on depth-specific sampling.
Correlate chlorophyll and carotenoid pigment data with phytoplankton species identification.
Strengths
Data covers a 13-month period from September 2004 to October 2005.
Samples were collected from 11 sites monthly, with additional bimonthly sampling at 3-4 sites.
Phytoplankton biovolume data was corrected and updated in June 2012.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
No sampling occurred in May or July 2005, creating gaps in the monthly series.
