Description
Four field sites near Abisko, Sweden and Petsikko/Kevo, Finland provide data on the Arctic terrestrial biosphere's response to climate change. Observations include plant root measurements, soil CH4 emissions, and carbon/water exchanges at fine (~1m) and landscape (~100m) scales, collected between 2007 and 2009. The project integrates plant and soil studies with atmospheric measurements, aircraft observations, and modeling.
Use Cases
Modeling carbon budgets based on measurements of carbon exchange between soil, plants, and atmosphere.
Analyzing methane (CH4) emissions from Arctic soils across different ecosystems.
Studying plant-soil interactions using root measurements and plant isotope ratio data.
Validating satellite observations with ground-based records of snow depth, soil moisture, and climate.
Investigating fine-scale (~1m) versus landscape-scale (~100m) variability in ecosystem fluxes.
Strengths
Data collected from 4 distinct field sites representing different Arctic ecosystems.
Covers a multi-year time range from 2007 to 2009.
Integrates multiple measurement types including ground, aircraft, and satellite observations.
Limitations
Specific column names, row counts, and dataset size are not provided in the metadata.
The 'Last updated' metadata field (2026) appears to be a future date, indicating potential system error.
Plant data is noted as archived separately, suggesting the dataset may be incomplete or fragmented.
