Description
The central Galactic plane region, within |l|<~45 degrees and |b|<~0.4 degrees, was surveyed in the 0.7-10 keV energy band. The database contains a list of 163 discrete X-ray sources resolved from the Galactic ridge emission, with fluxes down to 10^-12.5 ergs/cm^2/s, as published by Sugizaki et al. in 2001. This catalog was created by NASA's HEASARC based on the ADC/CDS source.
Use Cases
Modeling the contribution of discrete sources to the Galactic ridge X-ray emission based on resolved source fluxes.
Analyzing the spatial distribution of faint X-ray sources as a function of Galactic longitude.
Cross-matching faint X-ray source catalogs with observations from other wavelengths.
Studying source population statistics in a specific region of the Galactic plane.
Strengths
Contains 163 discrete sources with quantified X-ray fluxes.
Sources were resolved using a specific new analysis method for ASCA data.
Covers a defined region of the Galactic plane (|l|<~45°, |b|<~0.4°).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data is from a 2001 study; newer missions may have provided updated observations.
