Cook County property characteristics for single and multi-family homes (less than 7 units) collected by the Assessor's Office from 1999 to the present. The data is improvement-level, meaning each row corresponds to an individual building on a parcel, and is used primarily for valuation and reporting. Data is updated monthly, with the current year's data becoming final after the assessment roll is certified.
Parcel Index Numbers (PINs) must be zero-padded to 14 digits. Home Improvement Exemption (HIE) tracking methodology changed in 2021, affecting data consistency. Township codes require a separate reference map.
