Description
Antoniel Rodrigues Sousa's study collected data from 432 undergraduate students at a public university in Fortaleza, Brazil, between April and December 2018. The dataset includes screening for common mental disorders (CMD) using the SRQ-20, dietary intake from 24-hour recalls, and physical activity levels from the IPAQ-SF. The overall prevalence of CMD was 44.5%, and the study found associations with higher intake of added sugar and saturated fat and lower fiber intake.
Use Cases
Analyze associations between mental health screening scores and nutrient intake based on 24-hour dietary recall data.
Investigate gender differences in common mental disorder prevalence and dietary patterns among university students.
Model the relationship between physical activity levels, dietary components like added sugar and saturated fat, and mental health outcomes.
Strengths
Data from 432 students provides a substantial sample size for analysis.
Study design includes validated instruments: SRQ-20 for mental health and IPAQ-SF for physical activity.
Models were adjusted for age, gender, and physical activity, suggesting methodological rigor.
Limitations
Row count and column-level documentation are absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Data is from a single university and time period (2018), which may limit generalizability.
