Description
Patrick Danoy from The University of Queensland conducted a genetic association study testing 53 markers from 30 Crohn's disease genomic regions in a population of 2,773 ankylosing spondylitis cases and 2,215 controls of white European ancestry. Statistical analysis using Cochran-Armitage tests identified significant associations at loci including chr1q32, STAT3, IL23R, IL12B, CDKAL1, LRRK2/MUC19, and chr13q14. The findings suggest shared genetic pathways between ankylosing spondylitis and Crohn's disease.
