Description
A study of 246 adult inpatients at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda, recruited with a balanced ratio of men and women and participants with heart failure and stroke. Data includes socio-demographics, co-morbidities, ECG, echocardiogram, 24-hour Holter monitoring, and clinical lab results. The dataset was created by author Peter Olds and last updated on April 23, 2026.
Use Cases
Estimate the prevalence of atrial fibrillation based on 24-hour Holter monitoring data among patients with acute heart failure or stroke.
Analyze associations between socio-demographic factors and cardiovascular outcomes based on collected survey data.
Investigate correlations between clinical lab results (e.g., metabolic panels, blood counts) and cardiac conditions.
Model risk factors for atrial fibrillation based on collected co-morbid conditions and physical exam findings.
Strengths
Sample size of 246 participants was calculated to provide prevalence estimates with a 95% confidence level and 5% margin of error.
Multimodal clinical data collection includes surveys, ECG, echocardiogram, Holter monitoring, and laboratory tests.
Recruitment aimed for a balanced distribution among participants with heart failure and stroke and a similar ratio of men and women.
