Description
Northern Australia's continental shelf, spanning approximately 1500 km, is modeled in this 30-meter resolution bathymetric dataset. Geoscience Australia compiled the data in 2018 from multibeam surveys, LiDAR, and satellite-derived sources. The model covers a broad shelf over 400 km wide, including coral reefs, sand cays, and slope canyons.
Use Cases
Modeling safe shipping routes based on high-resolution seafloor depth data.
Analyzing coral reef and seabed habitat structure based on the described complex seafloor features.
Studying drowned ancient river valleys and continental shelf evolution based on the compiled bathymetry.
Supporting coastal and intertidal zone management based on the integrated Intertidal Elevation Model.
