Eighteen petroleum accumulations have been discovered in central Australia's Amadeus Basin since 1963, with three classified as economic. The petroleum is believed to be of algal/bacterial origin, with crude oil API gravity ranging from 18 to 54 degrees. This report from the Australian Ocean Data Network provides resource estimates and production data as of 31 December 1985.
