AUV Mapping of Benthic Habitats and Biodiversity in SE Tasmania

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) data integrates image capture and high-resolution geophysical tools to map seabed composition in coastal and shelf waters of SE Tasmania. The study was presented at the OCEANS'10 IEEE Sydney Conference in May 2010 and the data is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network. The AUV surveyed diverse marine habitats, from kelp-dominated rocky reefs to deep mid-shelf sediments, to improve understanding of benthic habitat distribution.
